  Charlie Chaplin Shorts

Silents were never really silent! Get the real silent film experience with live musical accompaniment on the Strand's Allen Theatre Organ. Sir Charles Spencer, famously known as Charlie Chaplin, was an English comic actor and film director of the silent film era who became one of the best-known film stars for his use of mime, slapstick, and other visual comedy routines. Accompanied by the theatre organ and organists Phillip Allen, Larry Davis, Ron Carter, and Rick McGee, it will be a treat to hear the distinct style and approaches of their "movie soundtracks." One of the shorts to be featured is Work (1914), a comedy where Chaplin and his boss try to do house repairs. Also, you'll enjoy watching Charlie get into a fight with another man over a girl at a dance contest in Charlie's Recreation. This collection of shorts will prove to be an afternoon to remember! Tickets $6-7.
